Did nothing to help (4.1.2). It will say radeon of it's not. I have tested the drivers and they work well with games and applications like Google Earth. how could someone solve this issue?
Your post seems to explain it well , I guess the ATI uninstall doesn't reset libGl correctly for the dynamic linker. If you must use the older fashioned command line installation then proceed. Then I get the dialog that the install is complete. I recompiled gcc, > just for grins.

The driver workes, after specifying Modes in the Screen section.
