You mentioned XGL. If the driver is on another partition make sure that you have specified that files can be executed on that partition. revdep-rebuild comes back clean. Did nothing to help (4.1.2). When I did this the entry in /etc/ld.so.conf.d was removed. I lookedin /usr/portage/distfiles and only found this ati file on the portable: ati-driver-installer-8.35.5-x86.x86_64.run so I downloaded the other files from a similar amd 64 system where I use ati-drivers: ati-driver-installer-8.27.10-x86_64.run ati-driver-installer-8.30.3.run
